Leicester City Council Has Drawn up a Contract with Balfour Beatty Living Spaces

Balfour Beatty Win 17.2 Pound Million Lighting Contract with Leicester City Council

Leicester City Council has drawn up a contract with Balfour Beatty Living Spaces, which will see almost all of the citys lighting converted to more energy efficient alternatives.

The contract begins on October 1st and is expected to last up to eight years.

With the councils White Light Replacement Programme, almost 33,000 of the citys lights are scheduled to be converted in the first three years of the contract.Once the lights are replaced with energy efficient alternatives, the lamps will not need to be replaced as often.

The objective of this programme is to integrate new technologies which, the council hopes, will reduce the energy consumption of the public lighting infrastructure while maintaining acceptable levels of lighting.

The contract should mean that Balfour Beatty will maintain the citys public lighting infrastructure, replace high-energy lamps with lower energy white light lamps and to install and maintain festive decorations for cultural events throughout the year.

Terry Woodhouse,Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Living Places, said:We are delighted to be the preferred bidder for the Leicester City Public Lighting contract.Once again Balfour Beatty has shown that it knows how to deliver innovative and forward thinking projects, providing excellent service and great value for money.

Balfour Beatty Living Spaces was created in 2010 to provide more customer focus to local authority clients with the objective of creating regeneration strategies, maintaining infrastructure and providing local services
