Drama About Emperor Xiaowen Staged in Luoyang

The newly adapted historical drama, "Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei Dynasty," hit the stage at the Luoyang Opera House on June 1, 2015. Three years in the making, the show features strong and creative performances.

Zha Mingzhe, Vice President of the Chinese National Theater and director of the new drama, said that there is a historic poem style that runs through the story. The style reflects the theme of the pursuit of advance and reform. Zha Mingzhe's characters are complex, and the complex and illusory situations they find themselves in results in a gripping plot.

The show reflects local Luoyang culture in many ways. Many viewers will recognize Emperor Xiaowen's residence as the historical Taiji Palace. Zha Mingzhe said Luoyang retains its high status in the Chinese history.
