Basic Facts
Jiangmen is located to the west of the Pearl River Delta on the coast of the South China Sea, adjoining Foshan in the north, Zhongshan and Zhuhai in the east, Zhaoqing in the west and Yangjiang in the south and adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao. Jiangmen was selected as a pilot city for a nationwide information program. It was also chosen by the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) as a trial city for the Regional Integration for Sustainable Economics (RISE) project. Among various indicators, Jiangmen excelled in infrastructure, low labor redundancy, proportion of joint ventures in all _ rms, informal payments to government, taxation, productivity and the investment rate.
Jiangmen Motorcycles
Jiangmen motorcycle industry started since the early nineties of last century and then speeded up since the mid-nineties with an average
annual growth rate of 30% from 1996. It has grown rapidly into R & D, manufacturing base with rise of the attention among peers. Jiangmen is now becoming a city with the highest output and performance in national motorcycle field. It was awarded the first "demonstration base of China's motorcycle industry," the first batch of selected industrial clusters of upgraded demonstration area in Guangdong Province. In 2009, industrial output value of the city's motorcycle was totaled 24.97 billion yuan with 4,141,600 vehicle output, accounting for about half the output of Guangdong Province, 1 / 6 of the national output. It is estimated that vehicle production in Jiangmen city will reach 7 million with total industrial output value reaching 50 billion yuan in 2015.
