This is a men's robe of the Song Dynasty. The camel yellow silk-lined robe has a palette of colors, including blue, green, black and white etc, all of which contrast nicely with one another. The patterns are lively and the sewing is exquisite. Kept intact, the robe is a top quality work of all excavated silk garments. The patterns are similar to those on the textiles of the 10th-13th century Persia and Byzantium. The patterns of overlapping coins, turtle backs and stringed pearls symbolize wealth coming together.
