The Land Is So Pretty

is a carefully curated exhibition to show representative works of the New Jinling Painting School of Jiangsu province.
A selection of 65 high-quality ink paintings from the collection of Jiangsu Art Museum are displayed, centering around the evolution of the painting school. They were created by modern masters of Chinese painting and the school's founding members, including Fu Baoshi, Qian Songyue and Ya Ming.

Jiangsu boasts a long-standing art tradition and is the birthplace of the Jinling Painting School which dates to the late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Member painters emphasized a meticulous depiction of landscapes to create a distinguished style.

Local painters continued the innovation of Chinese brushwork in the 1950s and '60s. They traveled extensively across the country and executed many paintings that reflected various aspects of social development, highlighting both historical and aesthetic values.

The exhibition is ongoing at the National Art Museum of China until Oct 29.
