Banana Republic Unveils Anna Karenina Movie-Inspired Line

Imitating English actress Keira Knightley's sumptuously classy vintage-inspired look in the period film Anna Karenina would be now easy for her fans.

Jacqueline Durran, the costume designer of the famous Russian novel-based English film, has recently launched a luxe 19th-century inspired limited-edition apparel line in collaboration with the American clothing brand Banana Republic's creative director Simon Kneen.

The 56-piece capsule range includes lace overlaying cocktail dresses, scarves with faux fur trims, double-breasted coats and leather gloves.

Directed by Joe Wright, the film Anna Karenina is an adaption of Leo Tolstoy's literary masterpiece with the same title. The novel narrates the story of a married Russian aristocratic woman and her tumultuous relationship with an unmarried affluent count.

Founded in 1978, Banana Republic is a mainstream luxury clothing retailer, which owns over 600 stores worldwide. The company is a separate business division operated by the California-based largest specialty apparel retailer The Gap, Inc.
