Guilin situated in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the west bank of the Li River. Guilin is surrounded by two rivers and four lakes and studded with sheer sided Karst mountains. The scene of Li River is printed on the back of ¥20 bank notes.
Yangshuo, 65 kilometers to the southeast of Guilin, is the paradise for backpackers, highly recommended in Lonely Planet guide book.
Rice Noodles are the most famous local cuisine in Guilin. The rice noodles are cooked in broth and served in a bowl of soup made from pork, beef, garlic, peanuts, peppers, and radishes, etc.
