MMC Norilsk Nickel Has Signed a Protocol of Cooperation with OJSC Russian Agency

OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel has signed a Protocol of Cooperation with OJSC Russian Agency for Insurance of Export Credit and Investment (Protocol).

The Protocol, signed by general director chairman of the management board of the company Mr Vladimir Strzhalkovsky and general director of OJSC Russian Agency for Insurance of Export Credit and Investment Mr Petr Fradkov will establish partnership and develop long-term, effective and mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at providing insurance coverage for the Company’s copper smelters construction project in Indonesia by way of insuring export credit and investment in Indonesia against entrepreneurial and political risks.

The project involves erecting copper smelters with a throughput of up to 400 thousand tonnes of copper per year in the Republic of Indonesia. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel is currently going forward with a prefeasibility study involving Gipronickel Institute expertise.

Signing of the documents is the next step in enacting the agreements reached during the working meeting of general director chairman of the management board of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel Mr Vladimir Strzhalkovsky with the president of Indonesia, Mr Susilo Yudhoyono during the APEC Business Summit, which took place in Vladivostok on September 8th 2012.
