The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service has announced that it has initiated countervailing duty investigations regarding galvanized steel and aluminum zinc coated steel imports from China.
The investigation has started upon the complaint lodged by the Australian steelmaker BlueScope claiming that the subsidization has caused material injury to the Australian industry through loss of sales volume, reduced market share, reduced revenues, price undercutting, reduced profits and reduced employment.
The countervailing investigation will examine galvanized flat rolled and aluminum zinc coated flat rolled steel imports from China between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012.
The goods subject to investigation are classified under item numbers 7210.49.00 and 7210.61.00.
