According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s exports of steel flat products totaled 702,525 tons in the first quarter of this year, jumping by 72% year on year, driven by strong demand from Europe.
Meanwhile, the country’s exports of steel flats totaled 162,878 tons in March, falling by 17% from a month ago. Among them, 12,407 tons were cold rolled steel flats, increasing by 20%; 57,158 tons were coated steel flats, rising by 16%, both compared to the figures in February. In March, Italy was the largest importer of the Turkish steel flats with 49,173 tons; Spain was the second largest one with 24,764 tons and Portugal was the third largest one with 23,201 tons.
