In January This Year French Crude Steel Production Amounted to 1.3505 Million Metric Tons

According to the latest data regarding crude steel production in France released by the French Steel Federation (FFA), in January this year French crude steel production amounted to 1.3505 million metric tons, down by 1.3 percent year on year, constituting the eighth consecutive year-on-year fall.

In January, crude steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) fell 6.7 percent year on year, amounting to 508,700 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 841,800 mt, rising by 2.3 percent year on year.

The FFA also noted that domestic crude steel production in the first month of the current year was still 16.1 percent below the January 2008 production figure, with overall EAF and BOF outputs respectively down 25.8 percent and 8.9 percent compared to January 2008.In 2012, France's crude steel production had totaled 15,607,200 mt, decreasing by 1.1 percent compared to 2011.
