According to the statistics from Statistical Office of the European Union, Romania’s volume of goods trade was USD56.08 billion from January to May in 2016, up 6.8% year-on-year (the same below). Exports grew by 4.4% to USD25.93 billion, and imports grew by 8.9% to USD30.15 billion. The trade deficit grew by 48.8% to USD4.22 billion.
In May, Romania’s volume of goods trade grew by 9.9% to USD11.67 billion. Exports grew by 5.6% to USD5.28 billion and imports grew by 13.8% to USD6.39 billion. And the trade deficit grew by 80.9% to USD1.11 billion.
Since January to May, bilateral trade volume between Romania and China grew by 20.1% to USD1.76 billion. Romania’s exports to China grew by 8.7% USD0.27 billion. It barely changed over the previous year, accounting for 1.1% of Romania’s overall export. And Romania’s imports from China grew by 22.4% to USD1.49 billion. It accounted for 4.9% of Romania’s overall imports, up 0.5% over the previous year. Romania’s trade deficit with China grew by 26.0% to USD1.21 billion.
China was the 21st export market of Romania and its sixth largest source of imports up to May in 2016.
