Imports in The Aggregate Consumption of Stainless Steel Till Sep 2012 Amounted to 64.8%

According to SpetsStal's estimate, the share of imports in the aggregate consumption of stainless steel in Russia from Jan till Sep 2012 amounted to 64.8%. It is worth reminding that in the equal period of 2011 it equated to 64.7%.

The most import-dependent sectors in Russia are: stainless steel flats, wire, seamless and welded tubes. Over a period from Jan till Sep 2012, compared to the same time frame in 2011, the share of imports in the stainless steel consumption was growing in the following sectors: flats up to 78.2% (in Q1-Q3 2011 – 71.0%) and seamless tubes up to 55.8% (49.7%).

In the following sectors the share of stainless steel imports decreased: Longs down to 38.6% (52.5%)

Wire down to 66.9% (68.8%)

Welded tubes down to 50.3% (63.8%)

Slabs/ingots – down to 34.9% (48.7%)
