It is learned that Spain´s crude steel output in 2012 was 13.6 million tons, down by 12% from the previous year.
According to the country´s Steel Companies Union (UNESID), this output number represents a consecutive year of poor performance, after 5.1% drop in 2011.
However, the crude steel production in the first two months this year had improved to -6% and -2% respectively.
In terms of the product range, long products had a moderate drop of 8% that is much better than flat product´s drop of 21%, mainly contributed by exportation market.
As for the apparent steel consumption in 2012 it was dropped 19% and the total sales revenue of UNESID’s members totaled 11.1 billion euros which represents decrease of 12.6%.
