Iron and Steel Demand In Mexico Was Instability

Since the beginning of 2013, Mexico's economic environment has started to change from the end of the previous year, in February 2013, the Mexican global economic index (IGAE) fell 0.96% to 0.19%.

In addition, compared with the same period last year, the cumulative index of industrial production in Mexico increased 2.9%, domestic steel production increased 4%. In contrast, steel demand was instability. The demand for steel was mainly affected by the impact of the construction industry: the size of the construction industry decreased 0.9%, while total output grew 9.8% in the automotive industry, which also affected the demand for steel.

The report noted that from January to February, Mexico's steel consumption over the same period in 2012 decreased 4.6% to 3700000 metric tons. At the same time, the first two months in 2013, Mexico's steel imports fell 13.5%, exports increased 34.4%, Mexico's steel trade deficit decreased 44.7% according to the volume of transactions, and the steel trade increased about 366.4 million dollars compared to the same period in 2012.
