ILVA Has Announced That 1031 Employees Have Been Made Redundant Until December 3

ILVA has announced that 1031 employees have been made redundant until December 3 as a result of the damage caused by the recent tornado. The sectors affected are steelworks 1 and 2, landing stages, ironworks management and a number of minor plants.

Most of the workers affected are from steelworks 2 where 550 people are employed. Safety is being checked after the tornado also tore off the roof of a number of warehouses. On December 3 the company and the unions will meet again to assess the situation but it is hoped that by then many of these sectors will be operational again.
