Chinese aluminum stocks at Shanghai Futures Exchange warehouses fell 0.5% Wednesday, halting a 14-week upward trend in weekly stock levels, according to data released late Wednesday by the bourse.
Aluminum inventories at SHFE warehouses stood at 404,738 mt Wednesday, compared with 406,667 mt last Friday, according to the data.
The week's stock level was published on Wednesday, instead of the usual Friday, as Chinese markets are closed May 1-3 for a public holiday, the exchange said.
The SHFE warehouses are located in Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
Stocks at the Shanghai warehouses fell to 173,712 mt Wednesday, down 0.1% from last Friday; Jiangsu stocks slipped 1.1% to 83,355 mt; Zhejiang inventories edged down 0.2% to 38,581 mt; while inventories at Guangdong held steady at 109,090 mt.
