The Brazilian steelmakers including Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) and Usiminas are mulling to raise the prices of steel flat products for automobile sectors by 5%~7%, effective from May 2nd. In January, CSN increased the prices of hot rolled coils (HRC) by 7.2% and rose the prices for cold rolled coils (CRC) and hot dipped galvanized (HDG) steel products by 3.5% respectively.
At the same time, Usiminas hiked the prices of heavy plates and HRC by 5% respectively. ArcelorMittal Brasil increased its prices for hot rolled sheets by 4% and rose its prices for CRC and HDG steel products by 4% respectively. In February, the three companies increased the prices for steel flat products further by 6%~12%.
