Brazil's Iron Ore Export Volume Amounted to 20.7 Million Mt in February This Year

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 20.7 million mt in February this year, decreasing 16.2 percent compared to January and down by 8.7 percent compared to the same month of 2012, according to the preliminary information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. However, Brazil's iron ore export value in February was down 5.8 percent compared to the previous month, and fell by 2.7 percent compared to the same month of 2012, totaling $2.1 billion.

In February, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 498,900 mt, decreasing 17.1 percent compared to the previous month and down 35.8 percent compared to the same month of 2012, while these exports were valued at $247 million, decreasing by 17.1 percent compared to January and down 50 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in February Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 203,900 metric tons, up 71.2 percent year on year and down 2.6 percent from January. The revenue generated by these exports in February totaled $136 million, down 4.8 percent month on month and up 20.9 percent over the February 2012 level.
