China Will Open Sorghum Markets to Argentina

China, who bought about 4.3 million tons of grain sorghum last year taht far higher than the second (1.5 million tons) of Japan, is the world's largest importer of sorghum by far. Before 2009, the Chinese sorghum imports were almost negligible and then in 2012 and 2013 it has increased significantly.

After more than 1 million tons of American corn, China has already rejected?more than 1 million tons of Amercian corn because it contained genetically modified ingredients that are not approved. Traders said that the Chinese authorities have to strengthen the inspection of the cargo sorghum, that may inhibit the American sorghum imports.

As the world's second largest exporter of sorghum, Argentina has become the third superpower after the United States and Australia to export sorghum to China.?Allowing Argentina imports could make United States face the competition of sorghum, the United States is the world's largest exporter of sorghum. In China, more and more feed mills buying sorghum instead of corn because the latter is more cheaper.

After China signed animal and plant health inspection and quarantine agreements with Argentina, Argentina can benefit from China's large demand by exporting sorghum.
