Book balance of investments made by insurance companies in equity assets is required to be not higher than 30% of total assets by the end of the previous quarter, compared with not higher than 25% in the past, according to a draft soliciting comments mastered by media.
Total assets of the insurance industry are close to CNY 8 trillion currently. If the draft is agreed, the upper-limit proportion of investment in stocks will be lifted by 5%, meaning the insurance industry can invest at most CNY 400 billion in the A-share market in theory.
