It's reported that US Steel announced to permanently shut down its Hamilton mill in Ontario at the end of this year. The annual production of the mill is at 2.3 million tons before it was idled in 2010. US Steel expected the closure of Hamilton mill will reduce its costs by US$50 million per year. Besides, US Steel will also close two aging coke batteries at Gary Works in Indiana.
