Brazilian Iron and Steel Institute (IABr) recently indicated that 13 million tons of finished steel on the first half year of 2013 were consumed in Brazil, increasing by only 0.6% compared to the same period last year. Following two consecutive months of growth in April and May, the finished steel consumption fell by 1.2% to 2.2 million tons in June. IABR forecast that Brazil finished steel consumption will increase on the basis of last year's 25.1 million tons by 4.2% in 2013 to reach 26.2 million tons.
