Reportedly, the current prices of SS400 hot rolled coils (HRC) with sizes of 3.0mm*1,250mm*C in Malaysia is at about US$810~US$825/ton, remaining unchanged from last week. The market shows a sign that the price may remain stable in the short run due to the reasons of lower price offers from foreign suppliers that imposes pressure to the local market and the upcoming General Election, which will last for 15 days from May 5. The election holds back most investments in construction or other industries as the new government policies of the country are still unclear. Meanwhile, Malaysia's GDP has grown higher than most of other countries in the world, reaching about 5.6% this year, which may help increase the HRC price by rising demand.
