Taiwan's Industrial Production Index in September This Year Increased by 1.6 Percent

Taiwan's industrial production index in September this year increased by 1.6 percent as compared to September 2012, and was down 3.50 percent month on month, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). However, the country's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in September increased 0.12 percent compared to the same month of 2012.

In the first nine months of the year, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index increased 0.5 percent compared to the first nine months of the previous year.

In September this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing increased by 10 percent and output of metal product manufacturing increased by 0.7 percent, both compared with September 2012. In addition, in September the two sectors saw 6.3 percent and 9.5 percent decreases respectively on month-on-month basis. In the first nine months of 2013, a 3.9 percent year-on-year increase was recorded in Taiwan's basic metal manufacturing output, while the fabricated metal production index indicated a slight increase of 0.06 percent compared to January-September 2012.

Meanwhile, in September this year production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry fell by 9.01 percent, output in the automotive industry decreased by 10.1 percent, while production in the Taiwanese construction sector increased by 13.7 percent, all compared to the same month of 2012.
