Mexico's Steel Production Totaled 8.819 Million Tons in The First Half of This Year

Mexico's steel production totaled 8.819 million tons in the first half of this year, down by 1.2% year on year, according to data released by the National Chamber of Iron and Steel Industry (CANACERO). Among them, 3.523 million tons were steel flat products, decreasing by 7.7%; 3.626 million tons were steel long products, down by 2.6%, both compared to those in the same period of a year ago. For steel flat products, the output of cold rolled coils (CRC) totaled 1.383 million tons, rising by 7.7%; that of hot rolled coils (HRC) totaled 1.142 million tons, falling by 18.7%, both in comparison of the figures in the same period of 2012. For steel long products, the production of rebar totaled 1.768 million tons, up by 0.7%; that of commercial profiles was at 160,319 tons, falling by 21%, both compared to the figures in the same period of the previous year. In June alone, the country's steel output totaled 1.338 million tons, falling by 5.3% year on year and decreasing by 10.3% from a month ago.
