Taiwan's Leading Printed Circuit Board Manufactures

Taipei, Oct. 25, 2012 (CENS)--With robust operations, Taiwan's leading printed circuit board (PCB) manufactures, Gigabyte Technology Co. and ASRock Inc., enjoyed quarterly shipment growth of 20-40% in the third quarter. However PCB shipments in the fourth quarter will be flat due to modest impact from the coming Windows 8 from Microsoft, according to insiders.

Gigabyte,s PCB shipments reached about 1.7-1.8 million units in September, decreasing about 10% month on month (MoM), with revenues of NT$4.43 billion (US$147.66 million), up 0.99% MoM, rising 12.69% year on year (YoY). Its cumulative PCB shipments totaled 5.5 million units in the third quarter, up 22% quarter on quarter (QoQ).

Based on cautious outlook for PCB shipments in the fourth quarter, Gigabyte's shipment will drop 10-15%. Besides, the firm,s original design manufacturing (ODM) business accounted for 15-20% of overall revenues last year, but slumped to under 15% this year. Thus, institutional investors predict the firm,s revenues to see a downturn in the fourth quarter.

ASRock,s PCB shipments reached 2.2 million units in the third quarter, soaring 46.67% and 10% from 1.5 million units in the second quarter and two million units in the first quarter, respectively. However, fierce competition in global PCB markets impacted average selling price (ASP) to result in ASRock,s revenue growth being less than 40% in the third quarter.

With September being the peak in global PCB shipments, ASRock's PCB shipments reached 5.7 million units in the first nine months. Impacted by the fourth-quarter traditional low season and limited momentum from the launch of Windows 8, PCB shipments in the fourth quarter will likely be worse than its third-quarter performance.
