Turkey's Billet and Bloom Import Volume Decreased by 48.14 Percent in February

In February this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 48.14 percent year on year to 185,927 metric tons, down 30.32 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $102.88 million, down 48.66 percent year on year and decreasing by 29.23 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the first two months of this year Turkey imported 452,711 mt of billet and bloom, down 19.93 percent, with a value of $248.26 million, decreasing by 21.81 percent, both year on year.

In the January-February period of this year, Turkey imported 284,307 mt of billet and bloom?from Ukraine, 6.64 percent higher year on year, ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia. In the given period, Turkey imported 141,263 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 26.68 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in February this year Ukraine was the leading source for Turkey's billet and bloom imports, supplying 101,694 mt, down 46.66 percent year on year.
