Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a unit of India's Tata Motors, is planning to launch its F-Type sports car in mid 2013 to make its re-entry into the segment.
The company said that the new two-seater alumnium built convertible will be manufactured at Castle Bromwich plant in Birmingham in UK.
The new sports car will be successor to the E-type which had debuted more than 50 years ago and will join the club of C and D-type of sports cars the company produced earlier.
It will be based on the company's C-X16 concept that had been revealed earlier at Frankfurt auto show.
According to JLR, the new sports car will be powered by petrol engines, comprising a new family of powerplants which is expected to include a V6 petrol engine with up to 400bhp.
The company will also launch a coupe version in 2014 following the launch of F-type sports car.
