The low-end direct-type LED-backlit LCD TV market in China is expected to grow rapidly and push out the CCFL TV market.
Prices for low-end direct-type LED TVs are only about 15%more expensive than CCFL ones and are estimated to be 10%more by the end of the year,which is attracting Chinese consumers,according to industry sources.More so,major LED TV maker LG Electronics recently announced that it will stop producing CCFL models,which is pressuring other makers to do the same and promote more low-end LED TVs.
Japanese LED TV prices have also dropped and industry sources said that high-end TVs that have features such as 3D and Internet connectivity capabilities have not taken off,giving the low-end LED market even more room to expand.
Meanwhile,statistics show that 46-inch and above LED TVs made up 30%of sales during China's recent holiday promotion for LED TVs while 40-43 inch ones made up 29%and 32-inch ones 31%.
