LED Lighting and More Energy-Efficient Products Are Being Pushed More by Firms in Taiwan

LED lighting and more energy-efficient products are being pushed more by firms in Taiwan amongst rising energy costs, said industry sources. With the summer season arriving, energy consumption will increase and local citizens will be looking for ways to cut back on energy, said industry sources. Despite higher prices for LED lighting, firms stated they are optimistic that consumers will consider energy efficiency, environmental protection, as well as the lifespan of the products they purchase. Taiwan firms such as Tatung and E-Life Mall are planning their market strategies with Tatung already promoting a 24-week payment plan that has no interest rate. The Japanese firm Muji is set to feature various LED lighting fixtures including desktop and floor lights, added sources. Tsann Kuen stated that by changing all the lighting in its 339 stores to LED lighting, it will save US$17.1 million in energy costs. Tatung also added that it will reduce its annual lighting costs from US$29 million to US$17.1 million by switching to LED lighting. Source: www.digitimes.com
