The LCD materials industry in Taiwan had an output value of NT$15.53 billion (US$518.38 million) during the second quarter of 2013, up 12.5% on quarter and up 13.7% on year, according to the Industrial Economics and Knowledge Center (IEK).
The increase was largely due to an increase in panel surface shipped as a result of demand for larger-size panels as well as to Taiwan material makers further entering the supply chains of Korea- and China-based panel makers.
IEK expects the output value to increase another 5.3% in the third quarter of 2013 to NT$16.35 billion due to expected orders from panel makers in China and Korea.
