Aeon Lighting Announced Cooperation with US-Based Cree Lighting

Taiwan-based high-power LED lighting firm, Aeon Lighting Technology, has announced cooperation with US-based Cree Lighting to secure supplies of LED chips. Aeon will adopt Cree's latest MT-G LED chips and has already obtained orders from Australia, Germany and US. Cree Lighting introduced the world's brightest chip, MT-G, in February 2011. The chip has a brightness over 80lm/W and has been popular among LED lighting firms. Aeon introduced Asia's first LED light bulb with Cree's MT-G chip in March which includes the MR16 light bulb with brightness up to 620 lumens and can replace current 50W warm-white halogen light bulbs. According to Aeon, many EU countries will ban the sale of incandescent (including halogen) light bulbs in 2012 and demand for LED light bulbs is expected to increase rapidly. Hence firms with the most advanced technology and production capacity, and cooperation with international firms, will be able to gain market share. Source: www.digitimes.com
