The 10th annual Tour de Tryptophan returns to Fullerton, California, the day after Thanksgiving. This year’s ride benefits BMX legend Eddy King, who suffered spinal injuries last month while riding Snow Summit’s new mountain bike park.
Riders will get a chance to burn off calories from their Thanksgiving feast riding the Fullertoon Loop, an 11.5-mile suburban mountain bike ride that links abandoned railways with horse trails through neighborhoods and parks, with singletrack sections throughout. The Fullerton Loop start is located on Berkeley Avenue, west of Harbor Boulevard, in the upper parking lot of the California Superior Court North Justice Center.
Riders will meet at 11 a.m. on Friday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 29). The ride goes from noon Friday until noon on Saturday, though participants aren’t required to ride for 24 hours. “Ride one lap, 20 laps or no laps. Just come out and have a good time,” read an invite from the organizer.
Jim Cooke currently holds the record of 18 laps (207 miles).
For a $40 donation, riders receive a commemorative T-shirt. A limited number of shirts will be available at the ride.
