Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. a manufacturer of heavy-duty portable electric power tools and accessories, is planning to construct a new, larger distribution center in Olive Branch, Miss. The Brookfield-based company will invest $8 million in the project, which will create 25 new jobs. The new 600,000-square foot distribution facility gives Milwaukee Electric Tool the ability to accommodate the “fast growing demand for its products throughout North American markets and abroad,” said Ty Staviski, the company’s chief financial officer. Milwaukee Electric Tool currently operates a 300,000-square-foot distribution center in Olive Branch, which is a suburb of Memphis, Tenn. "Milwaukee Electric Tool has been a valued contributor to Mississippi’s economy for years, with three locations already in the state,” Mississipppi Gov. Phil Bryant said in a statement. The Mississippi Development Authority worked with company and local officials to help facilitate the project by providing assistance for work force training and infrastructure needs. In addition, DeSoto County in Mississippi and the city of Olive Branch provided assistance for the project. Milwaukee Electric Tool, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Techtronic Industries Co.Ltd., is a manufacturer of professional, heavy-duty power tools and accessories. The company operates factories in two other Mississippi communities — Jackson and Greenwood. It also has manufacturing operations in China. Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. announced late last year that it plans to expand the company’s research and development operations at its Brookfield facility, 13135 W. Lisbon Road. An investment in the location is expected to create more than 100 new jobs over the next three to five years, company management said at the time. Founded in 1924, Milwaukee Electric Tool currently employs about 1,000 people worldwide, including more than 400 in Brookfield. Source: bizjournals.com
