Packaging company Coveris is investing in Coveris Flexibles France industrial sites in a bid to meet the increasing demand in the European pet food market.
The €10m investment will see the installation of machine tools at the facilities located in Firminy, Montfaucon and Campine by mid-2016, in addition to creating 30 new jobs.
The addition of new machine tools including extruder, printer, laminator, laser-cutter and bag molder machines will increase the company's expertise in extrusion and film printing during the production of packaging used in pet food.
Coveris Flexibles France director Philippe Langelier said: "Coveris Flexibles France is a center of excellence, renowned for its expertise in extrusion and film printing as well as the manufacture of high performance products for the pet food market.
"We are investing to improve our know-how, further improve our relationships with our clients and pursue out ambitious plan for growth. This investment reinforces our activity but also our engagements concerning social and environmental responsibility."
Coveris Flexibles France produces sustainable packaging with reduced thickness using extrusion techniques. This will reduce the amount of waste generated during the production process, as reported in Packaging Europe.
The dry products and snacks and treats divisions in the French pet food market are growing at a rate of 15%.
