Manufacturer of packaging solutions for the dairy and liquid food industry, Ecolean, has invested in a new facility in China to increase its production capacity of aseptic packaging material.
The company stated that the new factory and warehouse is an expansion of its current production facilities in the Tianjin Economic - Technological Development Area (TEDA).
This expansion which cost the company close to $50m will lead to an increase in the production capacity at Ecolean's headquarters in Helsingborg Sweden.
Ecolean CEO Peter Nilsson said: "China is one of the most important growth markets for Ecolean, and this major investment underlines our long-term dedication to the markets in Asia. I'm very pleased that we will nearly triple our production capacity in China."
The newly opened production facilities is a site measuring 4.900 m2 in TEDA near Beijing, which is considered to be an area with excellent infrastructure and easy access to a skilled workforce.
In addition to the new factory and warehouse, Ecolean has also added a new aseptic lab and training facilities.
Founded in 1996, Ecolean has commercial activities in 30 countries. Its largest markets are China and Russia and it employs about 260 people, of which 160 are in Helsingborg in the south of Sweden.
Ecolean claims that it uses a minimal amount of raw material to produce lightweight package which help in reducing the environmental impact. The weight of the packages helps in saving resources.
