Beef Meals Have Been Taken off The Menu of Schools in Northamptonshire by Adverse Impacts

A supplier that provides beef products to several schools Northamptonshire, UK, is the latest to join the widening horsemeat scandal, after its beef products were found to contain horsemeat.

In a testing that was conducted nationally, one of the ten tests identified that the beef mince from the supplier contained traces of horsemeat.

Following this, beef meals have been taken off the menu of 17 schools in Northamptonshire.

Northamptonshire County Council noted that although the sample was not taken from beef within Northamptonshire, the beef meals have been withdrawn as a precautionary measure

Beef products have been also removed from the menus of the council's staff canteens, which are served by the same supplier.

The Northamptonshire County Council supervises the production of 14,000 school meals each day in primary and secondary schools through its Nourish catering service. It supplies approximately 65% of the county's schools with school meals.
