Facelifted Ssangyong Korando with Updated End and Interior Has Been Spied

A facelifted Ssangyong Korando has been spied sans camouflage for the first time, revealing an updated front end and interior.

First published by Korean automotive site Hankyung, the two images show a red Ssangyong Korando with a revised grille and upper chrome strip, and a restyled front bumper with round fog lights.

Larger, squarer headlights similar to those of the Actyon Sports ute feature a new lighting cluster with LED daytime running lights. While not pictured, the tail-lights are also believed to be changed.

The cabin of thecompact?five-seat South Korean SUV has been refreshed compared with the existing car (pictured bottom) with a more modern dashboard, angular air vents and an extended centre console highlighted by a new touchscreen. Silver, chrome and gloss black trim accents add to the more upmarket appearance.

Powertains of the new-look Korando are expected to carry over from the current third-generation model, available locally with either an entry-level 109kW/191Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine or a 129kW/360Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel.

Expected to be unveiled in the coming months, Daniel Cotterill from Ssangyong's Australian distributor, Ateco Automotive, told CarAdvice the facelifted Korando wouldn't be seen in Australian showrooms before the first quarter of 2014.

Following Ssangyong's introduction of the $23,990 driveaway Korando S petrol in January, Cotterill says the brand is keen to continue pricing its products competitively.

"If we can sharpen that further, we will," he said.

Sitting above the base front-wheel-drive petrol model (pictured above) is the all-wheel-drive Korando SX priced from $28,990. Both come with Ssangyong's five-year/100,000km warranty and five-year roadside assistance.
