Dot Foods, a US-based food redistributor, plans to invest around $24m for the construction of its new distribution center in Dyersburg, Tennessee, a move that will creates 157 new jobs.
The centre, which will be located in Dyersburg Industrial Park on State Highway 211, will be the company's ninth distribution facility.
Spanning an area of 166,494ft2, the center will house frozen, refrigerated and ambient storage; warehouse; and a truck and tractor garage. It will serve the company's distributor customers across middle and western Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana and western Kentucky.
Dot Foods noted that the distribution center is expected to be unveiled in September 2014, and a temporary office will be opened in September 2013.
The company has named Tim Loyd as the general manager for the new distribution center.
Commenting on the development, Dot Foods CEO John Tracy said that the conducts extensive logistics analysis on where and when to open a new distribution center and chose Dyersburg because of the community's support, proximity to other Dot Foods locations and customers, as well as its cultural fit with our company.
Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam said, "Our Jobs4TN strategy focuses on leveraging Tennessee's unique assets to create and grow new jobs across the state, and today's announcement helps us toward our goal of becoming the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs."
In addition, the company has distribution centers across Modesto,California; Vidalia, Georgia; Burley, Idaho;Cambridge City, Indiana; Williamsport,Maryland; Liverpool,New York; Ardmore, Oklahoma; and its main distribution center in Mt. Sterling,Illinois.
Dot Foods engages in the redistribution of food products in the US. The company offers various dry, refrigerated, frozen, protein, and non-food products.
