Turkey's Crude Steel Output Decreased by 3.1 Percent Year on Year

In September this year, Turkey's crude steel output decreased by 3.1 percent year on year and was down by 0.3 percent compared to August to 2.89 million metric tons, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In the given month, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces increased by 3.8 percent year on year to 2.03 million metric tons. In the same month, Turkey's crude steel production by blast furnaces registered a rise of 5.9 percent to 850,000 metric tons, while crude steel production by electric arc furnaces decreased by 6.5 percent to 2.04 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year Turkey's crude steel output recorded an increase of 0.3 percent year on year, totaling 25.72 million mt. In the given period, Turkey's crude steel production by electric arc furnaces declined by 1.9 percent to 18.12 million metric tons and production by blast furnaces increased by six percent to 7.6 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis.

In the January-September period this year, Turkey's billet output decreased by 4.2 percent to 18.72 million mt, while the country's slab output increased by 14.6 percent to nearly seven million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
