A team of researchers from a university in Spain have introduced a new packaging system for canned fresh products, as part of a research, development and innovation (R + D + i) project.
Researchers at the Technological Corporation of the National Technology Canning and Food Centre (Coniun) said the packaging concept makes it viable to enhance the product quality, fis.com reported.
Due to the use of a vacuum system that retains all the properties and lowers production costs, the product's nutritional value can also be improved.
As the project cuts down energy costs and the time, it involves environmental improvements in the production system.
The packaging needs less amount of the liquid used to cover the food. It helps to increase the net content of the product.
The project, which has been performed with Auxiliar Conservera and SodetechSarl companies, also saw the development of a new range of sustainable packaging, which has a safe opening system.
