US manufacturer of consumer electronics Belkin International has created a new Snap Shield Perforation case to protect iPad 2 tablet devices from damage. The new grey-colored case weighs 10.4oz and measures 8.5 x 0.6 x 11 inches.
The case also features a perforated pattern on its back surface, which enables users to swap out different colored inserts such as green, blue, pink and orange to match their Smart Cover. It provides full access to all of the iPad 2's controls and ports, while providing scratch and impact-resistant protection.
Bayer MaterialScience provided assistance with material selection for the inserts and the case itself, while Bayer color technologies provided color development support.
The protective case and the colored inserts use Bayer's Makrolon 2207 polycarbonate plastic that has easy-release properties and is suited for general applications, which require a durable, heat-stable material.
