IC Vendors Have Seen Improvements in Order Visibility in The First Quarter of 2013

Most Taiwan-based LED driver IC vendors have seen improvements in order visibility in the first quarter of 2013 and are expected to see their revenues grow 20-30% sequentially in the second quarter, buoyed by increasing shipments to the LED lighting segment, according to industry sources.

Analog IC vendors including Richtek Technology, Global Mixed-mode Technology (GMT), Macroblock, On-Bright, Silicon Touch Technology and Leadtrend Technology have all rolled out driver ICs for LED lighting applications, in addition to the main applications in the notebook, TV and smartphone sectors, the sources noted.

Macroblock and On-Bright have revealed that they have landed orders for driver ICs from LED lighting makers in China with shipments to begin in the second quarter of 2013.

Richtek and GMT, optimizing their production scales, have been offering LED driver ICs paired with their analog IC parts, and therefore both will become two strong forces in the LED lighting segment in China and Taiwan, the sources added.
