Employee benefits-only agency Digital Insurance has purchased Strategic Employee Benefit Services (SEBS) group, which comprises Wellesley, Providence and Springfield, to boost its client services in Massachusetts and across the Northeast.
The US-based agency said that the acquired entity now operates under the banner of Digital Benefit Advisors (DBA), a division of the acquirer and, is planning to set up its first office in Boston.
Kevin O'Connor, managing principal of the SEBS group, together with his 14-member group will be absorbed by the DBA to offer clients expanded offerings and greater support, as part of the transaction.
Commenting on the acquisition, O'Connor said, "Aligning with Digital will significantly broaden our capabilities and enable us to offer clients enhanced services and access to expert resources."
Direct policy holders will have access to a customer advocate center, where educated and licensed Digital representatives will reply benefits and policy queries, which will allow employers to free-up overworked HR departments.
Formally known as Northwestern Group Associates Insurance Agency, the SEBS group offers cost-saving services to approximately 950 small and medium-sized firms throughout the country.
Most recently, the company acquired Washington-based employee benefits firm Berg Andonian.
Established in 2000, Digital Insurance specializes in health insurance distribution and benefits management for businesses for small to medium-sized companies and helps them effectively navigate the complexities of health care reform.
