The New System About Rice Testing Has Been Launched by Stable Micro Systems

UK-based Stable Micro Systems has launched a new rice testing system, which allows growers, processors and food manufacturers to evaluate rice samples and measure the resistance to extrusion.

The new Rice Extrusion Rig helps overcome labor-intensive, difficult and long sensory tests. It offers a quick, accurate and economical method to measure the eating qualities of rice, according to the company.

The company noted that this capability allows the users to choose the cultivars that address their own textural requirements as well as the demands of consumers and customers, reported Foodingredientsfirst.com.

In order to measure the resistance to extrusion, a sample of cooked rice is placed in the rig's testing cell. The rice is pushed by a plunger, following which the rice is compressed and extruded through the holes in the base extrusion plate. The resistance to extrusion is then measured and recorded in kg/cm2.

Stable Micro Systems is a designer and manufacturer of texture analysis equipment.
