UnitedHealthcare has enhanced its voluntary benefits product offerings for New York employers and their employees by including accident protection and specified disease plans, which are presently available to firms with 51 or more employees.
The company's accident protection plan covers employees' out-of-pocket expenses and lost income in the event of an accident by offering cash benefit for covered events.
Specified disease plan also provides a cash benefit and support to employees for recovering from major diseases like cancer, heart attack or stroke.
Employers can combine their plans with UnitedHealthcare's ancillary products, while providing medical benefit plans to their workers.
UnitedHealthcare voluntary products vice president Gary Harger said that some people suffer a major illness or injury that can result in significant expenses and possibly lost income related to their care.
"These two benefit plans enable employees to focus on healing from their injuries instead of their bills," Harger added.
