Krones, A&D Australasia, BASF and Festo are just four of the 270 companies who will be exhibiting at AUSPACK PLUS 2013.
Krones Pacific will be showcasing the KSB 6R series on stand 616. The KSB 6R series are PET blow-moulding machines that produce top-quality PET bottles and keep energy and air consumption to a minimum. The modular oven is one of the energy-saving features. With air recycling, a lower-capacity compressor is sufficient, and that reduces initial investment and on-going operating costs. Quick changeover is a major advantage of the KSB 6R series, and it is one of the reasons why the series is so successful. Short production runs can be processed quickly and efficiently on these machines. Easy access to all subsystems significantly reduces change over time.
A&D Australasia will make checkweighing simplified at AUSPACK PLUS and look forward to displaying their wide range of checkweighers on their stand.
The new range of A&D Checkweighers are designed to a high specification level; up to 200 pieces per minute, with a 0.5kg x 0.1g accuracy. The series will suits most applications and are a low cost entry level pricing. Designed and built by A&D Company (ADC) in Japan the checkweighers are high quality and reliable and are supported by manufacturer’s subsidiary, A&D Australasia (ADA); which offers full access to all technical information and trained personnel.
The A&D Checkweighers utilise high speed digital signal processing (DSP) and enables a slow motion view of all the noise and vibration variables. This makes it easier to identify the important weight data. DSP allows ADC to use a lower cost mechanical structure as there is less of a requirement for a rigid frame. The rigid frame and dampening of loadcells is currently used to reduce the noise and vibration variables.
Checkweighers are normally delivered to the customer in large wooden crates. The A&D design is delivered in 3 flat packs which would fit in the back of a standard SUV or station wagon. This cuts the cost of delivery.
The A&D checkweigher can be quickly assembled on the customer’s site by either A&D or an authorised A&D retailer. The checkweigher has a large, touch screen, graphic display with voice guidance. Set up is easy. Instead of product parameters being entered into the checkweigher’s indicator, the product is passed three times over the weigh belt and parameters are automatically captured.
BASF will be showcasing sustainable solutions for the packaging industry during AUSPACK PLUS including ecovio FS paper which is a biodegradable polymer that has been developed for coating paper and paper board. This fully biodegradable and partially bio-based polymer offers a number of advantages required for food packaging. The excellent barrier properties provided by this product can be used to address future needs like barriers against liquids and grease.
ecovio FS Paper also complies with European standard EN 13432 for compostable packaging, offering an alternative disposal pathway for certified paper and cardboard packaging in addition to recycling.
Further, packaging that provides a functional barrier against the migration of undesirable substances like mineral oils or benzophenone is an effective and efficient way of reducing or even eradicating the transfer of such residues from paper and cardboard packing into food. A series of studies conducted by the official Food Safety Authority of the Canton of Zurich have confirmed that ecovio FS Paper demonstrates a high effectiveness in preventing mineral oil residues from migrating from cardboard food packaging into food.
Organic waste such as kitchen and food waste can be collected hygienically in ecovio bags, then converted directly into compost at industrial composting sites, without the need to first separate bag from waste. Undesirable odor and pest infestation are prevented. Thanks to its good wet strength, liquids from organic waste do not leak through, so there is no more laborious scrubbing of the organic waste bin.
Come and learn more about Festo’s Bionic Learning Network at AUSPACK PLUS 2013. Festo is a worldwide leader in the field of automation technology and the global market leader for technical training and continuing vocational education. Pneumatic and electrical technology from Festo stands for innovation in industry and process automation, either as individual products or ready-to-install solutions.
Nothing is as efficient as nature: biological evolution can be described as an optimisation strategy by organisms to adapt to their environment. What could be more obvious than transferring these principles to the development of new technological methods and innovation processes and thereby learning what can be put to use in automation?
In the Bionic Learning Network, a joint project between Festo and several renowned universities, institutes and development companies, principles from nature provide a fresh impulse for technology and industrial applications. The initiative sets out to devise new types of technology platforms and products through the application of bionics. The objectives of the Bionic Learning Network are to transfer natural efficiency strategies to automation technology, to test new technologies and manufacturing processes and to develop energy-efficient biomechatronic products.
History of the Bionic Learning Network
Festo has been working intensively on the topic of bionics since the early 1990s. Since the launch of the Bionic Learning Network in 2006, Festo has been developing and supporting projects and test objects whose basic technical principles are derived from a wide variety of principles found in nature. Flexibility, the ratio of weight to moving mass and energy considerations are becoming increasingly important criteria and nature shows in many diverse ways how maximum performance can be achieved with a minimum of energy consumption.
