New Bottles for Lucas Bols' Damrak Dutch Gin

Glass container manufacturer Owens-Illinois (O-I) has designed new bottles for Lucas Bols' Damrak Dutch Gin.

The new bottles, which have been developed as part of a line extension, include 70cl and 1-litre sizes for foreign markets, including the US and Europe.

The bottles have been developed to increase sales in the US, as well as for other selected European markets, where Lucas Bols has distribution arrangements.

In order to give a Dutch look, the black closure of the bottles has been converted to a brilliant orange, which is paired with the original blue bottom.

According to the company, the embossed logo has been placed lower on the bottle in order to increase brand recognition.

O-I has manufactured the extra flint bottle at its facility which is located in Holzminden, Germany.

O-I will supply the bottles to Decoglass in Montabauer of Germany for printing. These bottles, after printing will be delivered to Avandis, the Lucas Bols' filling facility in Zoetermeer, Holland.

O-I Benelux beer, spirits and wine packaging segment manager Patrick Waegemakers said the long-standing relationship with Lucas Bols helped the company to intimately understand their requirements.

"Our New Product Development capabilities and international character enable local brands to differentiate themselves in foreign competitive markets," Waegemakers added.

Already O-I is the exclusive supplier of 75cl bottle for Damrak Dutch Gin from many years.

With around 77 facilities in 21 countries, the company provides glass packaging for food and beverage brands. It reported revenues of $7bn in 2013.
