India-based extrusion machine manufacturer Rajoo Engineers will be working with Netherlands-based Meaf Machines to produce sheet and thermoforming equipment.
Meaf will provide product design, technical know-how and critical components to Rajoo.
Rajoo, which is located in Gujarat makes blown film lines, sheet lines and thermoformers. It generates annual sales of about $20m (Rs100m). The company specialises in producing mono and multilayer blown film lines, sheet lines, water quenched downward extrusion lines, lines for PE and PS foamed film and sheets apart from end-to-end thermoforming solutions .
Plastic News quoted Rajoo Engineers president Sunil Jain as saying: "There are certain technologies which Rajoo doesn't [currently] have that would come with the new joint venture, like tilting mold thermoforming with stacking solution and sheet extrusion system. Our idea is to bring in the cost and energy-efficient technology."
"This is still a new market with immense potential that unfolds in India in the years to come with organized retailing growing in India, more disposable containers are required in this market."
Jain was further quoted by Plastic News as saying that the market for disposable containers in India is growing by 20-22% every year which is faster than the growth of the flexible packaging market. He added that thermoformed packaging with barrier properties is relatively uncommon in India, but the partners expect it to grow significantly.
Packaging companies are also looking at ways to automate and enhance output and energy efficiency owing to rising energy and labour costs.
Meaf that was established in 1947 in the Netherlands produces robust and compact sheet extrusion lines, thermoforming machines and auxiliary equipment to meet requirements of customers.
